Car Club Shows Their Cars and Their Hearts

1931 Ford Woody Station WagonCar enthusiasts can find a great deal of enjoyment from belonging to a club that shares a common interest in motor vehicles. Club activities usually include monthly meetings, cruise nights and car shows – any excuse to polish up your ride and hit the road.

The Prescott Antique Auto Club of Arizona fills their calendar with events that brings memorable moments, not only to its members, but to members of the community that we sometimes forget. On their latest outing, they lined up their cars at Mountain View Manor Nursing Home for the residents who probably remember seeing these classics new on a show room floor. The Prescott Antique Auto Club (PAAC) provides cars for viewing to seniors at this facility and others in the area upon request.

Each year this car club does a parade at the local Veterans Hospital, and on Christmas Day, the members provide and hand out gifts for the patients there. Santa Claus probably takes second place when Ed Willimann comes bearing gifts in his 1959 Lea Francis or when club President Tom Holden pulls up in his 1937 Ford Stakebed.

The Prescott Antique Auto Club also has a very special and elderly member of the community that there are giving their time and money to – they are currently restoring the 1926 #1 Ladder Truck that has been retired from the Prescott Fire Department.

We always say that if you want to meet some great folks, join a car club. The PAAC is a fine example of what car lovers are all about.

Are you in a car club whose calendar includes doing good deeds? We’d love you to “Toot Your Horn’ and tell us about it in the comments link below.

I know the Prescott Antique Auto Club all too well. My father was a member over 30 yrs ago. He joined so where around 1979, he was there until we moved in 1984. My Dad had a 1954 Ford Pickup (which is still in our family today) that he restored. His name was Larry Janke. We participated in all the parades and car shows. He even sold stuff at the Annual Swap Meet every year. It was a time in my life that I took great joy in. On Oct. 31, 2006 my Father Lawrence A. Janke was tragically killed in my backyard working on a vehicle. He was great DAD!
