The Cars to Watch at Monterey 2008

The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is, quite literally, an automotive contest of elegance. Car enthusiasts come from all over the world to view these fine contenders. So it’s only logical that Pebble Beach has evolved into a commercial event where buyers and sellers of expensive automobiles can get together at one venue.

While the Gooding is the only official automotive auction at Pebble Beach, and is the only sale held on the actual grounds at Pebble Beach, there are also four other major auctions held during the weekend – Russo & Steele, Kruse International, Bonhams and Butterfields, and the RM auctions. Each is significant in some way, and is held at different venues and times, but all take advantage of the Pebble Beach weekend to match up buyers and sellers.

All of the five auctioneers have quite an impressive inventory of historic and rare automobiles and we’re scratching our heads on how we are going to be able to see them all. The “star” cars in these auctions are:
