For Sale Elvis Presley’s 1969 Mercedes-Benz

Wednesday September 17, 2008
Elvis PresleyIn our regular scanning of eBay Motors to look for some fabulous car to drool over, we found Elvis Presley’s 1969 Mercedes-Benz up for sale.

The car is described as a gray with black interior, short-wheeled based limousine with Elvis's famous “Lightning Bolt” in gold leaf with TCB logo (Taking Care of Business) on both front doors. The odometer shows only 59,644 miles which are believed to be correct.

What caught our eye about this car, for other reasons besides being owned by Elvis, is the seller is claiming that it was purchased and financed by the ‘King’ himself by placing a $5500 down payment and making payments for 36 months.

The King needed financing?

Also, Elvis owned this car longer than most every car he ever acquired and is one of only a few that he titled in his own name. About 1976, Elvis gave this Merecedes-Benz to his friend Jimmy Velvet who ran the Elvis museum. Jimmy registered the car using EAP for the license plate in recognition of Elvis Aron Presley.

The “Buy It Now” price for the fabulous piece of Elvis memorabilia is $650,000. And in the same eBay listing the seller is also plugging Roy Orbison’s 1972 Mercedes that he’s selling. We would think that a bit cheeky except proceeds from the sales of both cars will be going to charity.

You can view the listing for Elvis’s Mercedes on eBay Motors. Make sure you check out the YouTube video links the seller provides.
