16th Annual Palos Verdes Concours D’Elegance

Thursday September 18, 2008
If you missed last month’s Pebble Beach congregation of the worlds’ most beautiful and historic cars of the past, you have another chance to view an exhibition of automotive excellence on California’s coast.

The 16th annual Palos Verdes Concours D’Elegance will take place this Sunday, September 21st from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Two hundred American and European classic, exotic, and specialty automobiles will line up on Founder's Park at Trump National Golf Club in Palos Verdes. This is quite a move up in from the soccer fields they used in the early years.

This year's Concours will honor the 100th anniversary of General Motors, and Cadillac will be the featured marque. Special GM classes include Chevrolet (1955-1957), two classes of Corvettes, GM Muscle Cars and Corvair. Other classes include European Sports Cars Under and Over 3 Liters, Morgans, Porsches and Ferraris.

For those of you who are into “green” machines, Concours co-director Bob Greenberg has assembled a class of alternative-fuel vehicles from early 20th-century models to the present.

Car Crazy Central has a great video on their website of last year’s event including a interview with Grand Marshall Carroll Shelby.

You can find out more information about the Palos Verdes Concours D’Elegance on their website.
