The Winter Trial 2009 Classic Car Rally

Wednesday December 17, 2008
The Winter Trial 2009 marks the ninth running of this extremely tough rally for any two-wheeled drive classic car produced before January 1, 1977. It will start off in beautiful Baden-Baden, Germany on January 24th – 30th and go through the Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovenia and Austria taking in plenty of ice and snow to finish at the fairytale hotel Schloss Fuschl beside the Fuschlsee near Salzburg.

The Winter Trial is the first of the year to count for the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Trophy for Historic Regularity Rallies, which is not so much about speed; the most important factor for judging is to implement route instructions.

There will be two categories for judging, each with different instructions, timing and awards, although much of the route will be the same for both. The Trial Route, which will be counting for the FIA Trophy, is split up into 6 legs and suitable for experienced crews. The total length is approximately 1600 miles and there are 29 sections or tests. The Vintage/Club Route is more suited to novice competitors and those who do not want any night driving.

You can find more information about the Winter Trial 2009 Classic Car Event on their website.
