With less than three month’s to go until classic car enthusiasts from around the globe make their annual pilgrimage to the California coast to see the best car’s in the world, numerous press releases about the Monterey event are flowing into our mailbox.
Here are the updates:
RM Auctions announced that they will be offering two significant Miller race cars – the 1931 Miller V16, the only V16 Miller race car ever built, and a 1927 Miller 91, a recreation of the Frank Lockhart Land Speed Record car, at their "Sports & Classics of Monterey" auction event. RM also procured an additional sale date in Monterey dedicated to the private “Nick Alexander Collection” of Ford and Mercury ‘woodie’ station wagons which will extend their auction from August 13th through the 15th.
The Concorso Italiano will be presenting its prestigious annual "La Bella Macchina" award to legendary late-night host and avid automotive hobbyist, comedian Jay Leno during their event on Friday August 14th, at the Laguna Seca Golf Ranch in Monterey.
Gooding & Company has announced the consignment of the Don Lyons Collection for its annual Pebble Beach Auction on August 15 and 16, 2009. The seven-car collection focuses on Indy racing and spans nearly 80 years of motorsport history.
Bonhams & Butterfields will be offering 14 vehicles from the collection of the late Sidney Craig and his wife, Jenny Craig, founders of the Jenny Craig Weight Management System, at their renowned annual sale at Quail Lodge in Carmel on August 14th.
