Classic Father's Day Gifts

Tuesday June 16, 2009

Nothing says “I love you dad” like a gift that shows you understand his infatuation with the automobile. Being lovers of everything with four tires, we’d like to offer a few suggestions to jump start your shopping. We’ve gathered some cool items that’s guaranteed to bring a smile dad’s face, and there should be no guilty feelings if you decide to purchase one of these gifts for yourself.

Wrenchware Cutlery
Could there be any better what to serve your father his meal with cutlery that looks like his tools…only cleaner? Dad can dine using a knife shaped like pliers, a spoon that looks like a wrench, and more. All pieces are made of high-quality, 18/10 polished drop-forged stainless steel. The three-piece set pictured goes for $24, and can be engraved with your special message. Wrenchware also makes auto-themed cups and plates.

AutoXray 1500 CodeScout
The Auto Xray Code Scout is the fastest way to access the trouble codes that trigger check engine lights, as well as readiness test status that determines if a vehicle is ready for an emissions test on all vehicles from 1996 and newer. The modern, compact design employs the latest in diagnostic electronic technology which makes the task of analyzing a vehicle's engine performance problems quick, simple, and affordable at $140.00 on Amazon.com. This particular model also gets a “thumbs up” from Consumer Reports.

Magnetic Finger
We happen to think this is a very cool gift for dad. This is a snug fitting glove for your finger that has a powerful magnet at the tip that allows you to hold and retrieve any small metal object with precise control. It really comes in handy when you’re trying to start a nut or fastener in a tight fitting or difficult to reach place. We think its well worth the $9.95 price tag.

Dashboard Hula Girl
We weren’t going to include the Dashboard Board Hula Girl until we saw it on the Hemmings Store website, and it was listed as a best seller just below their tote bag. Go figure! Dad will be going over those speed bumps a little faster to get this young lady to swing about in her grass skirt. Hours of enjoyment for $12.95
