Bonhams has announced that a 1950 Pontiac Chieftain Silver Streak Convertible, which was owned by Rolling Stone Keith Richards, is to be sold at their Sale of Collectors' Motor Cars and Automobilia event at the RAF Museum, Hendon, UK, on April 30, 2012.
Richards was reported to own the Pontiac while the Rolling Stones were based on the Cote d'Azur in the 1970s when they recorded the acclaimed album Exile on Main Street. Even though the car comes with photographs of the band at that time, Bonhams has only posted a pre-sale high estimate of £22,000, roughly $35,000 US. In the states, you could get a similar car with out celebrity ties if it was in halfway descent condition for that price. Reading Keith Richards' memoirs 'Life', he admits to crashing a few cars but we don't remember this being one of them.
