Bonhams was set up in 1793 and is one of the few surviving Georgian auction houses in London, so it was no surprise to us that their first venture into the Scottsdale Auto Auction week proved to be a very strong success.
First we have to commend their choice to hold their 1 day auction on the beautiful and conveniently accessible grounds of the AAA Four Diamond Westin Kierland Resort. Parking was a breeze, there was plenty of room to preview cars and it wasn’t so overly crowded that you couldn’t find a seat.
Geographically, Bonhams was centrally located in Scottsdale and within all four of the major auctions; Barrett-Jackson and Russo and Steele were within 10 miles going north and Gooding and RM within 10 miles going south.
Secondly we were pleased to see they kept with the tradition of Bonhams’ international motorcar auctions and brought automobiles sourced from across America and Europe to present an impressive and diverse line-up of cars with an unparalleled array of pedigree machinery from which buyer could choose from.
Our experience at the Bonham auction was made even better when we decided to bid on a car…and won. We are now the proud owners of a beautiful 1936 Ford Model 68 Deluxe Phaeton.
