Replacing the interior leather and upholstery in a car has been made much easier by the availability of “kits”. If you are restoring a Mustang or a Model A, everything you need can be ordered ready to install; no sewing machine required. As easy as that sounds, pictures of the existing interior pieces should be taken. That will help you see how to attach the new pieces correctly and avoid costly mistakes.
The interior of the MG was in pretty bad shape and pieces were missing; a complete kit had to be ordered and installed. The kit didn't come with instructions, and without having the existing interior as an example, at times we were confused about what went where. Our forethought in taking a huge number of pictures of two MGTDs at a recent car show saved our hides, literally.
