Looking for the Ultimate Shelby Collector

Wednesday August 13, 2008

Every week or two we search through eBay Motors and investigate the car that has the highest listed price. This week we were surprised to see that a 1968 Ford Mustang GT500 KR came in second highest with a “Buy It Now” price of $1.2 million. Needless to say we had to check this one out.

To our surprise, the “Buy It Now” price was not for just the one Mustang, but for five. The explanation for selling five Mustangs in one listing is as follows:

“This is one of the most interesting compilation of collectable cars you will find anywhere in the world! We are three Shelby enthusiasts who have put together this fabulous collection and have decided to see if we can find the ultimate Shelby collector. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to bid on 5 very unique units as a package. By structuring our offering as a collection, we know that we have narrowed the market to only a few very serious Shelby lovers.”
Their interesting compilation of cars include:

1. 1968 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500-KR Convertible
2. 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 Convertible
3. 1968 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 Fastback
4. 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 Couple
5. 1968 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500-KR Convertible

We think we’ll keep an eye on this one to see how these gentlemen’s strategy pays off, and if they find the ultimate Shelby Collector. You can view the full listing of the five Mustangs on EBay Motors.
