We have used quite a few different metal polishes and cleaners, and they all seem to do a good job to shine up chrome and aluminum on a car that’s been well taken car of. And if there happens to be some oxidation, using a buffing tool will help the product get that off.
When we used Meguiars Mag and Aluminum Polish to shine up our chrome, after cleaning off the brake dust and road grime from a weeks worth of driving, it worked as well as any other product. So we decided to test the product on an old, worn and torn rim that had been sitting in shop owned by a friend of ours. It was pretty scratched up with a lot of oxidation, but very little rust.
