Totally disassemble your parts. You can’t leave any two parts attached to one another if you want them chromed separately and properly. This can include door handle assemblies and rivets.
If you have bolts you want plated, wrap their threads with plastic electrical tape to stop chrome from getting on them. When sending out long, thin strips like body side molding, tape them to pieces of wood so they won’t get bent in transit.
If some of your pot metal parts have some pitting, don’t just drop them off with the rest of your pieces. Talk to your plater and see if they can be saved, deep pitting usually won't polish out.
