classic car maintenance tip

ASE master tech.
- Change your oil at the recommended intervals, and change your coolant too. Because it does cost $ when you let your maintenance go!!! Just think how much it will cost to repair gaskets, clean carbon build-up from the engine valley. (I saw one vehicle which had a large coffee can FULL of carbon I had to clean out) And OLD coolant erodes the aluminum and cast iron, and eats at gaskets if not taken care of!!

My 2 favorite maintenance tools
- For me there are 2 tools that I always reach for first when doing work on my classic cars, and neither are kept in my tool box! The 1st is a small and slightly dented digital camera (from dropping it a few times). Before I touch anything, I snap several shots of the parts to be removed or worked on. The more intricate or complex the part or assembly, the more shots I'll take. The 2nd is an old laptop, where I store and organize my photos and notes with a software tool called Collector Car Companion. These 2 tools help me stay organized and provides great documentation of the work I've performed on my vehicles.
